What is the mystery of the seals mentioned in Scripture? Why are they so important? (Part 2)

(This is a re-posting from my blog dated 21/03/2013)

In my previous post I have mentioned two seals in Scripture, and there are indeed two seals.  One is the sealing of the Christians by the Holy Spirit, (see my previous post,) and the other the mark or seal of the beast.  I mentioned these two because of the contrast between them, but in fact there is also a third seal and it is also mentioned in the book of Revelation.

It is very important that we read and understand the book of Revelation.  I feel it was written in part to warn those who feel they can ignore what has been achieved by the cross, and to help them see what is in the future for those who will live through the end times and who have ignored God’s gift of grace. In Revelation chapter 22 we find a very severe warning to those who choose to ignore salvation and cleansing from sin.  For those who chose to ignore salvation which could only be accomplished through the willingness of Jesus Christ to pay the price to free us from the bondage of sin and to die for all sinners.  This He did to give them a chance to repent and accept His wonderful gift of grace.

For those who chose to ignore His gift, and to be cleansed through His blood, thus moving from the living dead into life eternal, we find this dire warning. In chapter 22 verses 10-13 we read: “And He saith unto me, seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy let him be holy still.  And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last”. God has set a time when those who have so far rejected the gift of His Son, will have to pay a terrible price.

Today, one can repent of their sin, and accept the precious gift offered by Jesus Christ and be sealed by the Holy Spirit. In many countries even today this can bring much sorrow and difficulty, but for us in the west, so far at least, it would seem to be a simple and safe transition.   Soon however, after the rapture, and when the tribulation comes those who will be left behind, will be left with only two choices.

"And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one whose name is written in the book." (Daniel 12:1)

In the last days there will be a choice of one of two possible seals, both will be in the foreheads of people. In Rev. 9:4 we read; “And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.”

Then in Rev. 14:9-10 we read; “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosover receiveth the mark of his name.”   I’m afraid I can’t see any “warm fuzzies” in the latter choice or verses.

In the last days no-one will have to ask if you’re a Christian, it will be very clear, and you will have to be willing to die for your faith, for all will have a seal or sign showing to whom they belong.
What then is the connection between the spiritual and the financial during these times?  Although most don’t bother to consider it, do you realize that the world is actually in bondage to debt and to those who control the world’s finances?  How many, reading this, does not either have a mortgage which if called in would make them loose their, home, or are paying rent, which if not paid could cause them to be cast out of their home?  Can you imagine then, the number of people who would come up against the choice of loosing their home, and if not their home their access to food etc., if they refused to accept the seal of “the beast.” If, because of their refusal they could no longer pay their mortgage, rent, or feed their children, for they could not buy nor sell without it and could not even access their savings.

What tremendous pressure to accept the seal and worship the beast!! What pressure there would be to go along with the majority? Yet in Revelation Chapter 13 we are clearly told in verse 15, that having been given power “the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.  And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

Just think of all the seniors who have become dependant upon the government for their pensions to live on.  Just think of all the parents who depend on their jobs to provide for their children, and need to access funds to pay for their food.  Just think of the soul searching and the decisions these people will have to make!   Even today the world is in turmoil, and looking for a saviour who can get them out of the terrible financial morass which inflicts our global village.  What power that individual would have over the nations and people were he to arise even now.  And how scary it is that even today there exists the ability to control everyone in the world, and deal easily with those who would choose not to fall in line.

Now comes the most horrible part of it all, and you can ignore it if you wish, but ignoring it doesn’t mean it will just disappear.  The fact is that in Revelation 20 and verse 4 we read what will happen to those who do not worship the beast, and choose to witness for Jesus. In this verse we read: “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them; and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”

Up to now in North America at least we have only seen fulfilled two out of the three things mentioned in Revelation 12:11, but in these latter days the last, “and they loved not their lives unto the death,” will also become a reality.  I implore you dear reader, if you have not yet considered your present state and your eternal destiny, to turn to God’s Word right now, and seek forgiveness for your sin, for we read in John 3:16 “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” Even as the Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart right now, seek out a Bible based church and speak to the pastor, or leave your email in the comment section and I will contact you.

My prayers go with you!
